At the time of writing this newsletter, there is no change to British Triathlon  guidance on events and training and their Return To Play guidance can be found on their website www.britishtriathlon.org/covid-19.

Just a quick reminder on the recent decisions about the duathlon series.

The first "live" event of the Duathlon Series take place on Wednesday 12th May. All competitors who have registered will be sent an Event Briefing and Registration Form to ensure our compliance with the current guidance on running sporting events. Please note that registration is closed and there will be no entry on the day.

  • HEART OF THE WOLDS SPORTIVE. An invitation on behalf of Club member, Phil Haskins, before he sets off for warmer climes in the summer. As part of his farewell celebrations, he is planning a ride around the Classic route (100 kms) of the Heart of the Wolds sportive and has chosen Sunday 23rd May to do this. This is just a personal and very informal ride, but if any Barracudas care to join him, you would be more than welcome. He has put a short page together on his website https://www.pfhproductions.co.uk/the-classic-ride but the bare bones are: Meet at Kirkburn at 0845 for a 0900 start. Group ride around. Drinks at Thixendale after around 65 kms. Total ride time about 4 hours. Ideally it would be useful if you could let Phil know if you will be joining him, mainly for catering purposes.
  • 10 MILE X-COUNTRY, HUGGATE. Another date for your diary of Sunday 19th September for a 10 mile X-country race and 6 mile fun run/walk starting at Huggate. Meet at 0930 for 1000 start. Further details and maps/route to follow. Thanks to Paul Caldwell for organising.

A water temperature of 11 degrees was recorded at Billabong at the weekend! OWS at Billabong returned on May Bank Holiday (May 3rd) between 18:00 - 19:30 (although I have yet to hear if anyone braved the wind and the rain! Just learned that 9 brave souls ventured out! Total respect!). This year Les is replacing the Saturday morning swimming session with a Wednesday evening session 18:30-19:30. I am currently compiling a list of OWS venues which I will include in the next newsletter so if you know of anywhere offering OWS please let me have details and I will add to the list!

If you are aware of any virtual events and challenges that members may be interested in until such time as we can exercise together, please let me know and I will circulate in the newsletter. Don’t forget  to let me have details on any events so I can give a shout out. Please use the Barracuda Members Facebook page to keep in touch and support each other on a more virtual basis.

Stay safe and keep well!
