30th April 2021

Spread the word and tell your friends on social media!

Whilst there are no events results to note during this time, if any of you have discovered any innovative ways of training or setting yourselves motivational challenges and targets please share. Until we can go about our daily lives again, stay safe and well and take care everyone!

This will be the last newsletter you receive if you have not renewed your membership for the 2020 season. Whilst many events are currently cancelled there will be a time when registration to the events that have been postponed will be open so now is the time to renew!  Please go on to the Club’s website and click on the Join Now button. Membership fees remain the same as last year at £15. Can you please ensure that if you are entering events as a Barracuda Tri Club member your membership is up-to-date. There are some instances where this is not happening so please join to avoid any issues with race organisers who accept your race registration as a member when in fact you aren’t! Thank you in anticipation of your continued membership.

When you re-join you will be invited to join a FB group exclusively for 2020 members which will be a forum for communication between members on a range of activities and events exclusively for members. So please get you membership renewed as a matter of urgency if you have not already done so!

Welcome to new members – Andrew Gray and James Britton! This brings our current 2020 membership up to 40!

Please find below a message from Al McCartney concerning the Barracuda Club Duathlons due to start on the 8th April.

“Unfortunately we have received communication from British Triathlon England to suspend all triathlon organised activity at least until the 30th April. As a club, we therefore have to follow those instructions and postpone the events. We will keep up to date on developments.”

Last Thursday’s Pizza Night took the form of a Virtual Pizza Evening with members sharing photos of their pizzas and refreshments. Great fun and some tasty pizzas for those who took part. Very many thanks to Ellen and Aidy for organising! Please watch this space and the Club’s FB page for future virtual social events. If you have any ideas, please contact Ellen and Aidy postponed Social bike ride took place last Saturday and was enjoyed by those members who took part.

In view of the cancellation of this year’s Tour de Yorkshire, due to Coronavirus, which was confirmed today, the club ride on Thursday 30th April to share the atmosphere of the Tour de Yorkshire’s First stage has been cancelled. (The full statement concerning the Tour’s cancellation can be found on https://letour.yorkshire.com.)

Hopefully, the popular Summer BBQ will still be able to go ahead at Beverley RUFC. It is proposed that this will take place after the Allerthorpe triathlon on Sunday 2nd August so we would like to invite as many members as possible to enter the event as a “club triathlon” event and then enjoy the BBQ afterwards. Further details to follow!

Not a lot to say other than stay safe and healthy and take care everyone!
