BARRACUDA MEMBERSHIP 2021 UPDATE:

A warm welcome to our newest Club member - Grzegorz Semit.

UPDATE FROM BRITISH TRIATHLON:

At the time of writing this newsletter, there is no change to British Triathlon  guidance on events and training and their Return To Play guidance can be found on their website www.britishtriathlon.org/covid-19.

DUATHLONS SERIES UPDATE:

Just a quick reminder on the recent decisions about the duathlon series.

Following the recent British Triathlon Federation guidance it is apparent that we were unable to go ahead with both of the April duathlons, the Cliff Pratt duathlon on the 14th and the Humber Runner duathlon on the 28th. This was due to the actions and measures which would need to be implemented and which at the moment were just not feasible. We therefore had to make the decision to replace them with virtual events. The first event took place and the second event will take place on the 28th. The remaining events in the series will be discussed at a Zoom Committee meeting next week and a desicion about the format of those remaining events will be taken then so watch this space for further information and details!

For those who have enjoyed the virtual competition, the Ironman Virtual Challenge is still organising weekly training and event challenges and details can be found on the IMVC website www.ironmanvirtualclub.com. Currently 5 Barracudas have signed up and form the Barracuda team! We would welcome more!

RESULTS:

Some great results from theYorkshire Triathlon Standard Duathlon held last weekend at the Croft Circuit. This event was a British Duathlon Championship qualifying event. 4 Barracudas took part and results are as follows: James Bray - 02:08:38; Aidy Messingham - 02:11:08; Dave Fletcher - 02:13:33; Rob Fletcher - 02:14:54.

OPEN WATER SWIMMING UPDATE:

A water temperature of 9 degrees was recorded at Billabong at the weekend! OWS at Billabong returns on May Bank Holiday (May 3rd) between 18:00- 19:30. COVID restrictions will need to be adhered to. This year Les is replacing the Saturday morning swimming session with a Wednesday evening session 18:30-19:30. I am currently compiling a list of OWS venues which I will include in the next newsletter so if you know of anywhere offering OWS please let me have details and I will add to the list!

AND FINALLY......

If you are aware of any virtual events and challenges that members may be interested in until such time as we can exercise together, please let me know and I will circulate in the newsletter. Don’t forget  to let me have details on any events so I can give a shout out. Please use the Barracuda Members Facebook page to keep in touch and support each other on a more virtual basis.

Stay safe and keep well!
