What would you like to know?

Where can I park on the day?

Melrose is pretty good for parking - there are a few decent sized public car parks around the town. And the trainline terminates about a mile away. And buses go through (although not so frequently on a Sunday). Horses can probably be tethered somewhere nearby too.. Please think of the environment and lift share where you can. Or walk. Or Cycle. 

What time do I need to be there?

Registration is from 9.15 - 10.00. We might give you your number if you are 5 mins late. But we might tut quietly and shake our heads as we find you your number.

Where does the race start?

At the Old Railway Station, next to the bypass. It's a wee (3 min) walk from the Rugby Club but we'll lead they way, so don't worry.

Where does the race go?

Oh, you know, along a walking path, up a quiet (almost traffic free) road, along a farm track, up through some woods, along some paths, and the like... It's about 8 miles, we'll put out yellow signs and ask some friendly locals to point you in the right direction

Can I leave my stuff in the Rugby Club?

Yes. You can. There will be Wobbly Crew and other race related folk in the Rugby Club all morning so things should be pretty safe.

What should I wear?

Well, December can be pretty cold, so something that will keep you warm. We find festive fancy dress to be a good option - reindeer ears can provide excellent insulation.

And on my feet?

We would suggest trail shoes. Or decent road shoes if the ground is hard and a bit frosty. Or hooves.

Can I drop litter around the route?

Nope. 

Could I encounter traffic/members of the public out on the route?

Absolutely. Please be courteous to all you encounter and flash them a friendly smile (or grimace).

What do I do at the end?

Lovely warm soup and a lovely warm roll will be lovingly served in the Rugby Club when you have finished the event. We have extra love for the people who bring their own mugs. Other treats will be available (but probably won't be warm).

What if I win?

I mean, you are all winners in our eyes, but if you actually run faster than almost anyone else, we will involve you in a very heartfelt ceremony at approx.12pm at the finish line.

Can I wear fancy dress?

Yes, yes, and yes again. The jinglier and the janglier the better. Prizes will be awarded for excellent effort and compliments will be liberally dished out.

Where are the race proceeds going?

This year we are donating our money to the TVMT and we are hoping to fund part of our next running project*. TVMT will be out on the course making sure we are all safe.
