Information
The event starts with a graded 400m swim (16 lengths of the 25m pool) at Teesdale Leisure Centre. Competitors then tackle the 18-mile cycle route, which leaves the Leisure Centre and follows the A688 to the village of Staindrop. The course continues in an anti-clockwise direction over the scenic and testing moorland route along the B6279 to Folly Top. Then it proceeds a long and fast descent along the B6278 to return to the Leisure Centre.
The three-mile, off-road run route starts at the back of the Leisure Centre and follows public footpaths including the trackbed of the former Darlington to Barnard Castle railway line to the small hamlet of Stainton. The return route takes in the footpath alongside the A688 to finish at the side of the Leisure Centre.
Prizes are in the standard BTF race categories: first three Open and Female in the open race; and first junior Open and Female (16-19). There are age-group prizes for the Open and Female winners of the following categories: Over-35; Over-40; Over-45; Over-50; Over-55; Over-60. There are additional prizes for competitors tackling their first triathlon.
Please be sure to supply your current estimated time for the 400m swim, which we use to calculate your event start time. Those with slower swim times will be in the earlier swim waves and those with faster swim times will start in later waves. You can update your swim times up to the race closing date at 18:00 on Sunday 4 September 2022.
Registration opens at 7am on race day in the main sports hall at Teesdale Leisure Centre. If you enter as a member of British Triathlon, please bring a copy of your current race licence to registration. If you are unable to provide this you must purchase a BTF day licence for an additonal £5.
