Ho Ho Ho!
It's that most wonderful time of the year again and the Wobbly Christmas Pudding is waiting for you to take part.
Bringing your best Christmas Fancy Dress A-Game is always appreciated and all your incredible efforts are complimented and some are even awarded prizes. The terrain underfoot is mixed - you'll canter over tarmac, asphalt, woodland trails, a bit that is often very muddy and boggy, farm tracks etc. It's been known to include ice and snow too. We suggest trail shoes but we don't dictate. Whatever you run in though, please remove them before you enter the Greenyards when you come back for soup.
Registration and refreshments will be in the Greenyards from around 9.30am. There will be a brief official welcome and run through the rules of fair play/responsible running at about 10.15 before we all undertake the five minute trot over to the Old Station start for 10.30am.
Parking is pretty decent in Melrose, which is lucky as Sunday public transport is not quite as convenient. It does run (we are a 15 min brisk downhill walk from Tweedbank Train station for example) but if you are intending to use it please check local travel information carefully, Please car-share/bike/walk/horse ride (although tethering may be a small issue) to the start wherever possible.
Items should be fine to be left in the hall whilst you run - there will be people from Wobbly Towers milling around all morning (a couple of them are small, determined and occasionally vicious).
There is likely to be tasty hot soup (vegan friendly) and a roll at the end. Following feedback last year we will do our very best to provide gluten-free options as well. Please bring a mug for us to ladle the soup in to - squirting it directly at your face tends to be unpopular and less nourishing.
We welcome all and any suggestions for festive-themed names for numbers - it's honestly not that we are short on ideas (goodness no!) but we know that a lot of you are much wittier than we are and may well be itching for the opportunity to run 13km labelled as Fast Chris' Mas or Red-Nosed Elaine-deer.
In the meantime, any questions can be asked on the Facebook page.
Enjoy your autmnal training and we look forwards to seeing you in December!
