Thank You!

Many thanks for entering the Caistor Sting Challenge 2025 - this is the first running of this exciting new event and although it shares a lot of similarities with previous Sting events, there are significant changes for this year too - so please carefully read all the information below  to ensure you know where to be, when and to ensure you get the most from the event.

Number Collection

Numbers are not being posted out and need to be collected before the event. We'll be at Caistor Sports and Social Club, Brigg Road, LN7 6SQ at the following times:

Tonight (Tuesday 8th July) from 19:30 to 20:30
Thursday evening (10th July) from 18:30 to 20:30 and
Friday evening (11th July) from 18:30 to 20:30

If you're in / around the Caistor area at any of those times, please do pop along to the Sports and Social Club and also feel free to collect numbers for friends / family too. We'll be outside the sports and social club tonight as there is an event taking place there - and you'll find us inside on Thursday and Friday.

If you haven't collected your number during the week, then it will be available on the morning of the event from the Event HQ in South Street Park from 08:00 to 09:30.

Parking

With the kind permission of Caistor Yarborough Academy, we'll be using their car park as our official event parking this year. Caistor Yarborough Academy is located on Grimsby Road, Caistor LN7 6QZ. The car park will be open from 0800, and there is a short and direct pedestrian route from the car park to Event HQ in South Street Park. Please follow the marshals' instructions / event signage and don't use the vehicle entrance / exit to walk to the park. Please *do not* park in the centre of Caistor on the race route, as the roads will be closed and your vehicle will be stuck until after the event has finished.

Toilets and Bag Drop

Will be located near the Event HQ in South Street Park. Please note, bags are left at your own risk and you'll be responsible for locating your own bag after the race, please don't leave any valuables!

Pre Event Warmup

If you've done the Sting before, you'll know that one of the highlights has always been our famous warmup routines. We're pleased to announce that once again we have a local celebrity to entertain you and get you ready to run - please make sure you're in South Street Park at 09:30 as that's when the warmup will start, and you won't want to miss it!

Getting to the Start

After the warmup is completed, at about 09:45 competitors will be led on the short walk down to the start - please follow the marshals' instructions and use the pavement / footway as the road to the start is not closed.  Once everyone is lined up at the start, there will be a short safety briefing (please listen to it carefully) and the event will get underway at 10:00am...

The Sting Challenge Route

As you're hopefully aware, this year's Sting Challenge Route is substantially different to previous years! This year's event features a new cross country section which we hope you'll enjoy - that new section has been modified this week, at the request of one of the landowners, who've kindly given us permission to use a different route across their land. This late change means some of the route is now only accessible on the day of the event itself and so even if you've taken part in one our practice runs, or followed the previously published route, you'll be in for a surprise bonus section which nobody has run before!

On all parts of the route there will be marshals to direct you, plus signs and tape to show you where to go, so don't worry about getting lost, but please do take care to look out for event signage as well as keeping an eye out for uneven ground / trip hazards underfoot...

Please note that much of the route is on open roads, so please ensure you run on the footway / pavement if available, and for the short sections where there is no footway, please run on the *left* and in single file if there is traffic. The final section of the route takes you up and down the famous Sting hills around the centre of Caistor, finishing back in South Street Park, where there is one final hill to climb around the edge of the park, before you cross the finish line.

At the Finish

When you cross the line you'll be given a token for your Free Ice Cream, plus a bottle of water and this year's Sting Challenge memento. We'll be presenting prizes to the first 3 female and male finishers at 11:30 and expect our final Sting Challenge finishers at around this time.

After the Event

Please stay around in the park for as long as you like, as the Caistor Goes Sporty festival will be taking place - there will be food, drink and entertainment for all the family: perfect for relaxing and unwinding after your run!

A few final things to note

The weather looks like being very warm on Sunday - there will be two water stations with cups of water available on the route, plus bottles of water at the finish, but please bear in mind that you may need to run more steadily than you usually would, and consider carrying additional water with you.

Running with headphones is permitted, however please wear them in such a way and with your volume set to a level, that means you can hear other runners, any road traffic and the instructions from marshals.

Running with dogs is not allowed at the event, and a local byelaw means dogs are also not permitted at any time in South Street Park - please let any supporters know that unfortunately canine companions won't be able to be at the finish.

Many thanks for reading this far: we're really looking forward to seeing you all on Sunday for what promises to be another great Sting event!
